It say's that if i have a 3 cylinder to put the red/white and blue/white wires to ground but with the green/white and white/green which one do i connect to the blue and red wire.Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you very much lad's

Re: Mariner stator wiring help

I don't think that stator is compatible with your ignition system. If you have CDMs and not ADI, it might not work. CDMs have their own individual switchbox. ADI has a switchbox that powers individual coils. That's an ADI stator. If your motor has that switchbox, the wires would attach according to the labels by the screw terminals on it.

With an old black stator (which is what your replacement is based on), the high speed (reds) and low speed (blues) windings are separate and combine in the switchbox. Red stators that replaced the black stators for ADI essentially combine those through a long black rectangular thing. You'd have to remove that.

If your motor has CDMs, I suppose you could attach the red and blue to the white/green and the red/white and blue/white to the green/white and hope for the best, but I can't guarantee that will work or not burn out the CDMs. I also might have the green/white and white/green switched if it is workable. There isn't any info out there to be able to give a clear answer.

CDMs are easy to identify. They are like individual coils with four- or five-wire quick connectors plugged into them.

Hey WillyBwright

Thank's for the quick reply.Yeah my system has CDM's and the original stator was red. I told the dealer that i bought it off that my system had cdm's but he wouldn't listen to me. I don't think i'll chance connecting it. I might ring another mariner dealer and ask how many wire's he has on his stator. Thank's again willy u saved me a few euro's:D

Re: Mariner stator wiring help

Just did my Mariner 75 3 cyl stator yesterday. Yellows both go to the regulator, doesn't matter which one goes into which. Red and blue both go to the switchbox lower left hand side. Blue/white and red/white get joined together and go to a ground on the engine. I had the green and green/white wires on my old red stator which went to a stator adaptor. Don't need the stator adaptor with CDI/ Rapair. Replaced everything with Rapair and the boat runs like its brand new. good luck.
