Yes, you can! I'm not familiar with the electrics part of disconneting it, but you would plug off the oil intake from the tank at the motor, remove wires from the oil tank and remove tank. As far as the other electrics that you would have to remove, so that you do not get low oil horns all the time and such, I'm sure someone here can fiil you in on that part of it. I know how to do Johnson and rudes, but Mariner, I'm not familiar with. A manual might tell you how or call a Mariner dealer if all else fails, and ask them! one last thing, I have not heard any bad things about the Mariner VRO, so if you maintain it, it may last forever!
