Hello,

I'm looking into purchasing a used 20hp Mariner with serial # A186923. Any idea what year it is? It's a sort of tan color. If I buy it, I need to replace the prop so I need the model year etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you very much Laddies, yeah, it's a long shaft so it's l=20.

Re: Mariner year model?

Thanks again Laddies but the only problem is that it appears that they didn't make a 20hp Mariner in 1985 according to the Mariner Outboard Propellers list in Prop Finder. I can't find anything for 20hp 1985 Mariners by search or on the prop list for Merc-Mariner

Re: Mariner year model?

Ed the model year of 85 came out of my merc service bullet ions and merc lists props for a 20 HP that year. I see that iboats lists a 18 and the 18-20-25HP all use the same prop, the engines are exactly the same engine with the exception of carbs and tuner pipes so just order one for the 18 or 25

Re: Mariner year model?

I'm sorry to be such a pain but I have another question: I'm putting this 20 hp Mariner on my 14 foot MirroCraft Deep Fisherman aluminum boat that weighs about 200 pounds. Can you suggest a pitch for average use? My wife and I's total weight is about 450 pounds. We will probably have another 75 or so pounds with gas tank, fishing gear etc. My previous engine (15 hp Evinrude) planed us fairly well with what was probably a stock prop that came with the engine.
