Please see photographs - in my haste to get this out of the boat and disconnect the cables I did not take pictures or note where the position of the internal plastic ridged part was located and, the positioning of the levers. I also need to know which of the two levers is for the gear shift and which for throttle (or if it matters) and as far as the positioning of the gear shift lever is concerned is it back for Reverse, middle neutral and forward for forward which seems the most logical.
Apologies for poor description but hope pictures tell the story......

Assuming a starboard side mounting, the outermost handle is your throttle, with the starter/choke holes in the housing facing the middle of the boat (housing is reversible for port-side mounting).

Center your rack gear so that the handle gear gives full travel in both directions without running off the end. Lightly grease everything, too.
