In most provinces and states I believe you can purchase marked fuel which is used in off highway vehicles and equipment.
Do you take the time to find and fill with marked fuel and save a couple of buck's or go to the regular pumps???

I save my fuel receipts and deduct the highway taxes from the state on fuel used for OHV purposes. This is done with teh state, not the Fed. This is not the same as the fuel deduction for OHV farm use.

PetroCanada has it but you're going to need a registration number.

The tax here in Illinois is $.19 a gallon. It cannot be deducted nor refunded as it not only applies to roads use but also water use. DOT gets the majority of the moneys but DNR also gets a chunk of it. If you have a comercial fishing charter or business, you might be able to deduct the tax.

The only gas tax I can deduct is for my mowers, edger, weedeater, etc. It falls under the landscaping clause. But is in now way worth it to spend the time or energy to keep track of all that for the 5 bucks I might get back.

That is sorta funny, petro can stations here just have a pump that says marked gas, no issues, must be an Ontario thing.

Here in Georgia, I have only seen diesel pumps that did not have road tax added to price. They add a dye to the off-road diesel and its a big no-no to get caught with it in your on-road tank! For gasoline, I believe there is a tax deduction form that can be used but I've never bothered with it.

In my case I don't save a dime- it actually costs me extra to use those pumps. The only "off road" use gas around here is ethanol free premium grade. And it costs significantly more per gallon than gas for normal use. You also have to go looking for it, as only a few places choose to sell it. But it's what I choose to use in my boat.
I never paid attention to any taxes included or excluded in the price. It's at least $0.50 per gallon more than the standard stuff, except at the marina, where it's about $1/gallon more. But you do have me curious- next time I fill up, I'll give it a look.

Wisconsin says-

Who may receive a refund of motor vehicle fuel tax paid-

Wisconsin law provides that motor vehicle fuel is not subject to the Wisconsin motor vehicle fuel tax when it is used for off-road purposes in mobile machinery and equipment. Exceptions: It is subject to the motor vehicle fuel tax when placed into licensed motor vehicles used for off-road purposes, snowmobiles, recreational motorboats, and all-terrain vehicles (unless the ATV is registered for private use).
