I'm looking for my first boat (my dad has had them for years) and I've been looking at the chaparral 20 and 21 footers.

The local dealer says he can get me a 2007 204 ssi loaded for $28k. I've seen a used 2005 210ssi with only 50 hours for $24500.

I'm interested in the used 210, but was wondering what a fair price is- looking on boattrader etc. the price (24.5k) seems ok, but looking at NADA the boat is listed at $20.5k. The boat is in as new condition- but I find it hard to believe that it's 4k OVER NADA. But then again, I haven't found any boats listed at 20.5k.

As a side note- I'm not too impressed by prices on boattrader, since I saw a 2005 chaparral 18' for $15k and I physically saw a 2006 used one (with extended warranty) at the local dealer for $12.5k.

HELP!

Thanks!

prices differ with the region of the country. nada is an average, and really not very reliable on boats, as condition, hours, maintainance, enter into the equation. you can always get more boat for the price in the 2 - 5 year old boat, but you are also buying the deferred maintainance that the previous owner did or did not do.
