I have a 1999 Regal commodore 242 with a volvo penta 5.0GL and a SX-M.

I am not sure how to use the pump to discharge into the water or pump out by a marina.

Can anyone tell me how?, I know there are 2 valves by the engine but dont know how to use them.

Re: Mascerator pump

look for the discharge hose from your holding tank. It will go to a Y valve or maybe the 2 that you see. anyway you turn the valve to discharge and turn on pump. If nothing comes out turn off that one and turn on the other. one goes to the pumpout on deck and one goes to the overboard line. Dont run pump dry over a few seconds to test.

Re: Mascerator pump

Ok I followed all the hoses and the toilet has 2 hoses attached. The small hose goes to a single valve that seems to be an inlet to allow water to come in. The second one (bigger) goes directly to the holding tank. The holding tank has a vent hose and another one that connects to a PVC T. The PVC T connects to another hose that goes out and has a cap that reads "waste" (this is were the marina plugs in to pump out), and the pump connects to the T in the upper connection of the T. The pump has a smaller hose that connects to another single valve in the hull (I think this is the discharge hose and also has tie raps).

So I opened the discharge valve and turned on the pump, the punp is working but nothing comes out. I have the boat currently out of the water in a trailer. Does the boat need to be in the water so water will flow thru it in order for the pump to work?

The boat doesn't need to be in the water but there does need to be water in the waste tank to be pumped.

Where does the tank gets the water from?, from the toilet or somewere else?

The only way I see will be from the toilet but I will have to manually pump at the toilet?

it is unlawfull to pump into ANY U.S. inland waters..... the small hose does not matter.... the hoses you are looking for are at the valve.... there should be 3.... one to the head or holding tank, one to the pump and then overboard, and one to the pumpout. You have a 50/50 chance of getting it right... if it doesn't work flip the lever and try again. As was mentioned above you can't empty an empty tank...

ok I just reread your last post...... looks like you have a tee instead of a y valve.... If the waste cap is not sealed you won't be able to pump anything... your best bet is to just remove the maserator and tee and cap off the thru hull but if not at least replace the tee with a Y valve that can be locked so as to comply with the laws on msd's
