1993 Cobalt with 5.7 Volvo just started when I turn the ignition key the master power circuit breaker pops when I have the safety switch in the run position if it is in the off position it will not pop circuit breaker. I am decent at electrical diagnosis but need a starting place I have no spark and no power to fuel pumps when I try to start the engine. THANKS!

One way would be to isolate at the engine connector. The only problem is that the power going to the helm goes through that same connector so you would have to jump around it. You could unplug, jump the power and then try your test and see if the circuit breaker pops. If it does, the short is on the helm side of the connector. If it doesn't, its on the engine side of the connector,

I have a 1995 Chris Craft with a 5.7 Volvo and believe I am having the same problem if you have three breakers mounted on the starboard manifold. Are you popping the 60 amp breaker mounted on the left?

Mine doesn't pop until it's fully warmed. If I start up, launch, and then shut off at the dock it will immediately restart. When warm and I shut off, when I turn the ignition to on I have no instrument power and no starter. I can then reset the left breaker, immediately hear the fuel pump, and instrument power is back. Then start-up is normal.
