i have a 93 mastercraft with a 351 v8, the engine is running like a dream however there is a strong fuel odour from the exhaust, the oil is clear and compression and head gaskets are good !! just concerned that the fuel is escaping into exhaust ? if so how and what will i need to do to rectify ??

The only way for unburnt fuel to get into the exhaust is through the cylinders......
Even toughit is running well, I would check the plugs & wires to be 100% you are firing on all cylinders......
Also, maybe most important I'd make damn sure that the petrol smell is not coming from your bilge area.......
Visibly heck all of your connections on the delivery side of the system.........:)

That would Probably indicate that your Carb is set up Way Too Rich.......

Have you pulled any of the Sparkplugs,+ Looked to see their Color,..??....

How did the plugs look when you removed them? Are they the correct heat range?
As Bondo suggests, you may be running rich.....
Is your choke working properly?.........:)

Re: mastercraft fuel leak.

deposits were like you said bond-o apart from one which was darker than the rest, i have an idea that the problem may lie in the carb, either a float sticking or some thing dumping too much fuel through ??

If you have one of those black plastic floats and and you do a carb rebuild change it to a brass float.Plastic one can cause a lot
of trouble.
