I am replacing my guage panel on my 93 tiara and need a material that I can use to create a new help panel. About 24" wide, 15" tall, and capable of supporting two Raymarine E120s. Like carbon fiber, but concerned with trying to cut it. Lexan an option. Any other recommendations?

Thanks in Advance!

I used 1/4" oak plywood, stained and polyurethaned.

I was also concerned, so I sealed it, including all edges, with three coats of Helmsman spar polyurethane. Plus, the plywood I used appears to have waterproof glue- I tested by submerging a piece in water for a couple of days. No delamination.

I use 3/8" black plastic either Starboard or Marineboard. Its a medium density plastic with a textured finish. Polish the cut edges and router the outside perimeter. It's available through most plastic fabricating shops.

Your best bet is to use engraving stock or Starboard.

If you want it done right, consider this guy. He does good work at very reasonable rates.
