Hi All,

I am making progress with purchasing a boat. Thanks to all of your help I have avoided several blunders.
I put a deposit on a boat with twin Evinrude 150 hp. 1991 mfg. date (rebuilt in 1997). Could anyone tell me what the RPM should read at WOT during the sea trial? I’m sorry that I don’t have the model or serial numbers of the engines, I don’t know if it matters but the boat is a ’86 25’ Boston Whaler. I searched the archives and found similar HP of various years should have between 5,000 to 5,500 rpm, will this be the same for these engines? What would the proper rpm to cruse at?

As always your help is appreciated.

Mike

Mike....

I believe the max rpm for the 150's is 6k rpm. So, if the engines cruise at 57 or 58k rpm, I would say thats' just right.
