Max RPMs for '95 Merc XRi 150

I cannot find any info on what is the recommended max RPMs for my Motor, '95 Merc XRi 150 Black Max. I'm hoping someone has an answer or can direct me on how to find out.

Hi, I think the optimum/recommended top end range is 5100 to 5500 rpm with a load (prop in the water).. Boat resistance and prop choice will usually determine your top revs. Without a load to keep the engine tight the rpm will probably keep increasing until it does blow. To compare performance with another motor I think you need a dynomometer so you can have a known load factor. Hope this helps.

Keep your Merc on the high side of 5,500, Your cooling will be better and so will your hole shot.
