I'm back into the bidding for a 65 Johnson Seahorse 33hp. This is elect/long/remote and comes with all, I say All controls. Even has the key..Seller sez it runs, pees, shifts, nothing in the LU which they drained for shipping. Seller is an OB dealer/repair facility. Shipping is a flat $65.00 strapped to a pallet and delivered to a dock in my home town.

I've already checked with the local boat repair shop and they will accept the delivery. I'll have them go through the motor before I strap it on the boat anyhow.

My dilema: I have no idea what this unit is worth. It does not have PT/T which I would like but can live without. I haven't checked yet but I'm sure we are talking several hundred bucks for the PT/T add-on.

At present we are at about $200.00 on the bidding. I can't afford a sky high bid, especially for a 1965 sight unseen motor.

What do you folks think a reasonable bid would be on this unit?

I'm thinking $350.00 should be my max considering the age.

I totally agree with you! Sight unseen for sure. I'll bet that motor doesn't go much higher, but I could be wrong since you may not be the only one looking for that long shaft combo. Either way, I think you're right for setting yourself a limit in that area. You never know until you get it in the driveway!
Good luck with it,

I hope you win it. That's a nice motor. I'm currently working on its little bro, the 28hp. Also, a tiller handle shouldn't be hard to find if you're going that route. Believe it or not, I found the actual OMC tiller handle for this motor (including all the hardware) for $50 off ebay a few weeks back. Brand new still sealed in the box!

Well I got it. Spent the last 5 min of the auction bumping the other bidder 5 bucks a shot. Got down to 5 seconds remaining and I hit the bid button. I set a max bid amount for myself of $350.00 but went over by $55.00. As long as the monster runs I'll be a happy camper.

Now I've got to finish the boat. :D:D:D
