One of the engineers that works for me caught his neighbor setting a small boat out by the curb. a Wooster Hellion. He asked me if I wanted to buy it for $20.

:) :) :)

just have to track down his neighbor for the BOS to get it registered. he said no controls are on it. looks like I will have a fun little "runabout" to tow behind the Rogue.

now just need to finish my merc Mark 20

I really DO learn something new here every day. Rubbermaid made boats! Who'da thunk it?

And, how neat is that thing! Very, very cool. Good luck!

Mind blown. Rubbermaid boats.

There have been some really neat little boats... some might be called micro boats if ya ask me! Checkmate made one called the Playmate.

Very cool.

pics from my phone

looks like a total gelcoat resto will be needed. good news is the fiberglass is sound and there are only about 20 rivets holding the cap on the hull.

Re: May have just scored

well, have BOS in hand.

boat fit in back of the truck with room to spare

spent about 45 minutes with garden hose, some bathroom cleaner and a scrub brush.

boat will need a complete resto (gel, foam, fiberglass chips), will have a complete thread on that. However for this summer, going to simply get steering, controls, and my '54 Mark 20 hung on the back.

I just sold a mercury super 10 hurricane that was painted that same color. Looks like a fun little boat, I gotta keep my eyes open for something like that.

Klaus135,

when you pick it up, can you measure the steering and control cables?

Nice little boat!

Here is a 10 foot Cougar Cub. It appears to be a little longer than your Hellion but about the same width. It has a 50 on the back, up from a 25. It was designed for class racing with a 25 Merc and there are reports of it hitting 45-47 MPH with that power.

Be careful with your hellion. These little boats will turn around and bite you in the *ss before you know it, especially when overpowered to any degree. It is likely that with the Merc 25 you will come close to 40 MPH and might even hit 45. Even though it is classed as a boat and not a jetski, and you are not required to wear a pfd (here in Pa.) ALWAYS WEAR your pfd while in your boat.

No matter what you decide as far as restoration, be certain to reinforce the transom.

Have fun with your new toy.

Brain freeze! But even with the 16 you should get up into bigger speed numbers. Enough to really have fun. The advice still stands: Reinforce the transom and always wear the PFD
