I've had some outboards with really good dock manners. But I agree... they tend to be less decisive, particularly in reverse. My 4winns with the I/O is particularly good around the dock. A lot of people have run it and are surprised because people associate single I/O woth wandering in reverse and being slow to respond but you literally just point the wheel were you want and it just does it.
I'm going to assume chap cutting corners was also a factor too? We checked out the formula booth at the boat show last winter and everything they had was head and shoulders above anything else at that show. Which I expect from them but it was nice to see it to still be true. Sales man let me climb into access holes and see everything. There was nothing I could find to complain about on any of the boats they had there.
