first I did search the forum ...
I have a 1969 MC - 1 mercruiser I/O 120 HP 2.5L GM powered and was wondering if a Alpha one lower unit will fit and OR the whole out drive to the bell housing

my upper case is in good visual condition but my lower is quite nicked and I am expecting 300-400 to weld it up and Alpha ones can be had for that money around here also my unit needs resealing + ??? and only grinds going in to reverse

my research makes it look like a Alpha 1 lower will fit back to 67 OR 72 depending on which seller is listing it on iboats out drive sales links
they also list the whole unit fitting with drive shaft change over

thirdly is a Alpha 1 lower any better?
my MC 1 is power TILT NOT trim and has the second set of shocks AND the locking knob on the side of the upper unit

Ayuh,... I think yer MC-1 is toooo old to swap with an Alpha 1,....

The swapability starts somewhere in the early/ mid-70s,.....

I have an MC-1 from 1980 with a SEI 106 outdrive attached to the original bell housing. Talk to the folks at SEI, they will let you know for sure, they warranty their parts, and a brand new one with shipping will be less than $1500.
