I'm looking for a source for ignition coils for a 1964 45hp electric start Mcculloch. I suspect we could make something else work but having the right mounting would be nice. The engine is part of a matching set, boat, motor and trailer, all Mcculloch and have been together in one family till now. Any help or leads are greatly appreciated.

Re: Mcculloch 45hp ignition

Thanks for that tip, I have sent him a message, no reply yet. possibly someone here can help. I don't believe ignition is the trouble, I've reset the points, swaped coils (cyl. to cyl.), replaced the plugs with the proper heat range, compresion test- 135psi both cylinders and have new high test fuel at 50-1 mix. The trouble is that it fouls the top cyl. spark plug as soon as it runs, pull the plug wire of and there is good blue spark. Have had the carb appart twice, cleaning and checking. The only thing questionable is the gasket between what I would call the metering block and float block. The carb is a Marvel-Stebler 2 barrel and I can find no listings for the carb. All leads would be greatly appreciated. Engine is 1964 McCulloch, 45hp electric start, ser#64304530-c1157
