Yesterday, after driving for about 7 hours (round trip) I arrived home with my newest prize.
Serial: 81680 3148 <--The first 5 characters are paint, and the last 4 are stamped. No sign of a model#

Bonuses: (1) The hood is *NOT* cracked all to smithereens! (2) An original owners manual was included in the deal. (3) It appears to be completely intact and in reasonably good condition. (4) $125.

Cons: I was told it was getting no spark to one cylinder. The choke seems to be jammed shut. It'll budge a little, but the venturi remains mostly choked off. The plug wires were reversed.

In a pinch I have a 7.5 I can use as a parts source, but I want to get it running too. (Bought some shim stock to fabricate a reed valve)

In descending order of importance, here's what I'm looking for:
1. The electrical connector/dual plug to the battery <--It's kinda unique
2. An ignition coil
3. A SERVICE/parts manual

I took some pics. Here's 3 of the connector on the outboard:

I'm gonna dig into it some today. It's *HOT* out today - lower 100's today, upper 90's for the next 5 days.

I guess you know about the manuals posted here:

Click on Marine Engines and you will find Scott/McCulloch. There is a condensed manual there for the 9 HP. I guess they're Clymer manuals but they're better than nothing.

I guess you know about this site:

http://web.a-znet.com/~scottguy/

I post this because there will be others who find your post who may not be aware of these resources.

Cool motor; I've heard that they are challenging to work on but I can't say that from any personal experience. I think that is the one where in order to get the carb off; you have to remove the flywheel?

You kidding? You gotta pull the flywheel to CHANGE COURSE! <---JUUUUUUUUUUst kidding. But you're right. They ARE a challenge to work on. I'm gonna hafta pull the starter & flywheel to address the stuck choke problem.

I clicked on your first link and failed to find a means to register. Log-in, yes. Register, no.

neat transom clamp. nice motor!
I'll have to do an inventory on all my Mcculloch stuff one day... saving stuff up to do a restoration on my dad's old 7.5
I have an NOS hood, and even bought a NOS Mcculloch duffel bag that is tailored to the 7.5 from back when ebay was more of a flea market.
