Back when I was about 12 years old, Bubba always traveled and was never home. So one day he said he was going to take me fishin on reelfoot lake in west tennessee, which is not much more than a swamp with cypress trees and stumps. you have to use a special 10 ft. wooden lake boat(15 mph top end), an inboard briggs and strattion engine and you sit in a chair on the bottom of the boat, steering is done by a push and pull rudder stick. So we get up bright and early on a Saturday morning and go to one of the local boat rental docks, the boat dock is in the shape of a L about 10 boats on both sides. Bubba pays the man for a boat and tells us that the brem and the crappie have been bitting good this week, so there is a lot of people getting ready to go out? I get in the front seat and bubba gets in the back seat(pilot), so bubba turns around on his knees to start the motor, he pulls several times on the rope and the man tells him to choke it and put the throttle to fast. bubba pulls on the rope again and the motor starts at full throttle and the force of the takeoff keeps bubba from turning around to take control of the boat, there are about 10 boats lined up side by side in front of us with people sitting and standing in them, I still can remember there looks on there faces! when we hit those boats it was chain reation, men diving in the water, I remember an old man doing push-ups between two boats, tackle boxes flying, nobody got hurt? By then bubba gets turned around and in the seat and says how do you steer the boat??
