My son had to get a TB test which came back positive 

Ok next step get and X-RAY and go over it no sigh of ever having TB and no idea why the test is positive  his lungs are perfect

NOW it starts getting stupid you have to go to and infectious disease specialist

Ok he says you will need to take this drug for 9 months and have liver function tests done twice a month to make sure the drug does not kill you 

Ok now my son is smart enough to ask some questions like what is the chance of getting Tb in his current condition. 5% more than the general public and 0% more after 36 months

So why do you want me to take this drug? Doctor can’t give any real answerer

Re: Medical cost rant

1. The patient always has options to say no. Docs are not Gods and are not always right.

2. I have been through this, "Take this $100 a month drug and reduce your small chance of getting this disease." carp. I said no and will continue to say no. I will only take drugs proven to successfully treat what is already wrong with me (that is enough, believe me.)

3. Hospitals, clinics, etc, usually do not turn away patients who cannot pay and only sue those they think they can get a settlement out of. We who can and do pay have to make up the difference.

4. Those of us who can and do pay also pay for malpractice insurance which often runs into hundreds of kilobux per year.

This is USA's 21st century underground universal hospitalization and health care plan.

Those wimps in Congress are afraid to do anything about any of it for fear they may not get re-elected. They would rather quibble over the wording of pledges and civil rights of gays. :(

JB your statement is 100+% correct "Those wimps in Congress are afraid to do anything about any of it for fear they may not get re-elected. They would rather quibble over the wording of pledges and civil rights of gays. "

The politicians have the best healthcare available and for the amount of what they give in return it is not worth it.

My first wife's MS wiped us out. I was severely in the negative when she passed away. We spent everything we had on drugs, hospitals, nursing homes, and nothing worked. I have no love for healthcare systems, drug companies, doctors and whet the heck I am not too fond of lawyers (or Jane Fonda either)! To this day I still have a very hard time even entering a hospital because I am so bitter. Sorry for the rant.

It will definitely get worse before it gets better. I read that John Petersmith Hospital (FT. Worth) is having troubles because the trustees voted to stop free care for illegals. They will still give emergency service, but that is it. Seems they are now racist because they dont want to give free medical care to crimminals, er illegals, er migrant workers *spit*.

tested positive 52 years ago, and will always test positive, the atibodies will remain for ever. now they ignore that fact. thier is a current epidemic. but tb is a curable desease, It is found in the malnurished, and drug abused populace. get the xray, periodically, and relax. unless symtoms come up. The doctor is lineing his pocket. your in NYC, I dont think we in metro ny are at a hight risk, by the way have you boated to the fire works?? always wanted to.

I agree, the doctors have lost their head.

My grandfather had emphasema and prostate cancer. He was started on chemo for the cancer despite the doc saying the emphasema would kill him first. He was dead two weeks later, the chemo killed him.

They just love to fill you up with drugs without sitting back and thinking.

Ken, most of the time it isn't that the Drs don't think it is because they have to constantly cover their rears from law suits. A HUGE reason health care is so expensive is because as JB said the malpractice insurance is so out of control. Also that is why they prescribe 20 tests now for a hang nail, if they miss that small whatever that turns into a problem and then get sued for negligence. I am not under any illusion that all Drs are infallible healers but I don't know of any profession where you can get sued for so much for doing your job. There needs to be caps put on these law suits to bring the malpractice costs down.

I agree that is amajor part of the problem, but the docs need to stand up and get this fixed.

What do you expect when the goverment is full of lawyers? They arent going to cut their own throats.

My mother had colon cancer and had about 10" of it removed, she was in her late 60`s when this happened. They didf limph node tests and some came back positive so the doctors wanted to do the chemo thing. My mom told them that she saw what that stuff does to people and no thanks, I guess I will just go home and die! Well, she is now 91 and going strong.

TB is not just a lung disease, my little sister had it in her spin and is in the medical books as the first spinal bone graft. (yes I get tested from time to time)
