Hi all,

New to boating and this forum. I bought a 1962 Dyer Glamour Girl, a few months back, she is in pretty good shape, but just can't seem to find much information on it. It has a "newer" Mercrusier 3.0 I/O which runs great, gets up on plane pretty well, and is generally a lot of fun Reading through these forums can scare the you know what out of people.. especially old boats; stringer rotted, transom replacement, waterlogged foam, etc.. I am looking for any information at all, trouble spots, issues etc.

Thanks for any information

:welcome: aboard jwadel,

I don't know a thing about your new to you boat but she's a super sweet little boat! She sit a bit stern heavy in the water it appears, some trim tabs could help with handling and popping up on a plane easier.

It looks to me like someone put a whole bunch of work into her and can't imagine they could've pulled off the engine swap without rebuilding her guts and transom.

Sure would love to see a vid of her in action, I bet the ole gal scoots with a 3.0L!

You may want to pop for a couple dock lines to eliminate the trip hazard using that bow line to tie up with.

Thanks for the replies.. Funny you should mention the trim tabs, my first time out with the boat (third time actually "driving" a boat) I thought the boat was going to flip over, the bow went so high.. I figured it out soon enough and all was well. However the wife does think the "hole shot" to get on plane is just a ploy to go fast.. So I have been thinking about the SX Smart tabs, most the reviews are positive. I am going out tonight, I will get some video.

Nice looking little boat ya got there!! With that 3.0 I would assume you have a power trim on the outdrive...yes/no? Be sure the trim is full down when staring to go fast and as the hull planes out then raise the outdrive a little until you see the tach gain in rpm. If you get to high up the speed will drop along with the rpm, adjust in and out slightly until you find that sweet spot. The last pic looks good in the water, better balance than the doc picture. Trimming your outdrive may be all is needed to stop the excessive bow climb.
