One of the best ones that I've seen (well, that I can post here) was called "My Boob Job". Even the Admiral cracked a big 'ol smile.

While working at Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale I saw the following (among many others)

'Mon Amour' (my love)

'La Bon Vie' (the good life)

and a motorsailer named 'Capitol Gains'. The tender was named 'Ordinary Income'

My boats name is the 'Foggy Notion' everybody who sees it says it fits the owner as one of my many nicknames is hippie... lol

One of the dingy down at the pier is owned by an Italian charter captain, its called the 'fun-goul' and has a goofy little ghost on the side, ya gota know a bit of Italian... just a little bit... ;)

Boat names walk a very fine line between the clever and the lame. Many owners greatly overestimate their wit.

First the good. Fishing boats have a suitably manly name. I mean, really, no one wants to fish marlin out of a battlewagon with Smellin' the Roses on the transom. So the manly names definitely win:

Fierce Allegiance
Fiery Vengeance
Dauntless
Defiant
Burning Desire

I also like musical references. A friend has a 20 foot speedster called the Little Wing. I see a boat on the St. Croix quite often called Comfortably Numb.

Now the lame:

Wet Dream - Barf. Lame-O
Liquid Asset - Yeah, that was a good one. For the first 10,000 guys that used it.
Tonka Toy - There's 10,000 repetitions of this lame name just on Minnesota's Lake Minnetonka. The first one was clever. . .

Seen on a beautiful 40 foot sailboat - breed unknown - that was so pretty that I turned to watch it. On the stern its name " Never Again II" Kinda says it all about sailboats, IMO.

Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

I had the one: Never Again VII. It was on a 100'+ yacht with an atrium top deck and a helicopter pad on the stern.
Some local ones:
MissMiMoni
Cerrosis of the River
Tooth Ferry ( A dental hygenist)
Off Duty (Sheriff Deputy)
Last Buck ( Homebuilt boat)
River Bottom (Name fits to a tee)
After You ( A single guy---"If you come across, I will name my boat after you")
The Whole 9 yards (27' boat)
She Said no! ( A family with 6 children in a 19' bowrider)
"Here, fishy, fishy" ( Bass boat)

This one is about license plates. A stockbroker in the 60's had two cars: A VW bug and a Caddy> The Bugs license plate read "Down" and the caddy "Upside" . The Dow reading at days end determined which car he drove the next day.

Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

I've actually got a boat of my own that I think can fly in this flock. The original owner's name (who due to superstition I won't remove from the boat) is "Rusty Fishook" If you look that one up you'll see its not quite as fishing related as you think (definitely R rated or so) and the name I've given the boat is "Nev'r Dun"

:)

FOG DUCKER

Very appropriate for sailboats that set up their saturday morning regatta right where I'm fishing. (It's a "Spooner-ism". Named after a college professor that invented the convention of swapping the 1st letter of two adjacent words)
