My neighbor got an new merc 90 4 stroke last spring. I read somwhere (and it bothers me that)I can't remember where, that mercury is using the 4 stroke motor from suzuki on their 4 strokes. I know they are the last of the manufacturers to move to 4 stroke but could this be true????

Snowshoe

Your memory is as bad as mine, snowshoe.

Mercury has been using Yamaha built powerheads on many of its 4 strokes for several years.

It was OMC that began selling some Suzuki 4 stroke engines as Evinrudes in the late 90s. Bombardier has continued the arrangement, but now they are called Johnsons.

Gonna move this to General Outboard.

I can only add that Mercury uses Tohatsu 4strokes for lower power ratings (I think under 30HP).
