Merc 115 4-stroke same engine as Yamaha 115 4 stroke?

Hello, <br /><br />At the boat show I was informed that the Merc 225 four stroke is the exact same motor as the Yamaha 225 four stroke. Is this true? Can the same be said about the 115 Merc/Yamaha?.

Same engines. Exactly. There may be some differences in gear cases, hoods, and paint regarding the rest of the outboard.

Is this true for all Merc 4 strokes? Or just the 225? Anyone bought a Merc 4 stroke lately? How do you like it?

All Merc 4-strokes (including Big Foot models) from 9.9 hp to 225 hp are Yamaha engines. Merc does EFI some of the smaller one's.
