I have a 115 merc that just died on me the other day and is beyond repair. However I have found a Merc 1150 inline 6 1976 model. My questions are, Can you still use the same controls and harness from the ADI engine? Is the mounts bolt pattern the same between the 2 engines? and last, Is there going to be a significant difference between power, fuel consumption etc, Oh and will parts like the carbs etc interchange? Thanks for your info- Bob

The control will work but the harness will need to be replaced or modified for the battery ign.

Bob, There are aftermarket motor harnesses that fit both types of ignition. The orange wire is left disconnected on the distributor ignition model. You may bwe able to adapt your ADI Harness if necessary. The white ignition wire would need to connect to the switchbox.

The controls, boat wiring harness and bolt pattern are the same. Power and fuel and most parts are the same as well. It is the same motor except for the ignition system.
