Merc 115 ELPTO 2 stroke?

I apologize if someone has posted this already, but I can't seem to find a straight answer. Can anyone tell me if I have a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine? Serial # is OT943250. Mercury tells me it is a 2 stroke, and I put 2 stroke oil in it, but since then it has been running rough at high RPM's. I HAVE to verify if it's a 2 stroke engine before I take it out again!!

looks to be a 1996 2 stroke. Oil cap on the top of the engine?

Yep, oil fill is on top. Mercury swears up and down its a 2 stroke, so I'm going to go with that! Thanks!
