merc 115 - ignition question

my 92 or 93 115 has no spark at all.<br /><br />good compression<br /><br />plenty of fuel<br /><br /><br />what would be the most likely culprit if there is NO spark in all 4 cylinders?<br /><br />any ideas welcome thanks

Why would you start another thread asking the same question?<br /><br />It may help to include a photo of the wire harness connections at your motor. You mentioned "extra wires going to nowhere etc.<br /><br />Also, hooking up the battery cables backwards even for a moment can damage the electronics.<br /><br />Provide as much detail as you can to assist with troubleshooting.

sorry amd, i started one thread and watched 20 responses to others after mine and figured i wrote WAY too much in post #1.<br /><br />ok, ive got a good digital pc. ill take a pic<br /><br /><br />the deadman or stop circuit seems like it would kill everything, especially on a motor that was running fine recently. the problem is that ive removed the remote/harnass to eliminate this possibility.<br /><br />thanks still

The safety lanyard switch will kill spark only if that's not connected or if that's what you have removed possibly you didn't do it right? We have 2003 115 Merc, first time starting this year my son spent about 3 hrs trying to start, I went out and noticed the switch was partially tripped, flipped it up and away it went, son felt pretty foolish.

Just read your other post about the red wire and 20amp fuse, look at this diagram in this link, it shows a red wire with 20amp fuse coming off the starter solenoid and going into the main harness to the control box. Go down the left side and pick the diagram for 4 cyl models.115 hp wiring diagram

thanks bob<br /><br />yes, thats the way its hooked up. the wire to nowhere is a splice OFF the wire red with 20 amp fuse. im thinking it was just an old hook up for an ammeter or something. the other reds come off the motor to the box<br /><br />thanks<br /><br /><br />ok here is a question. how can i, according to that diagram, completely remove the kill circuitry? also how can i test it with an ohm meter

actually bob you helped me. there are 2 diagrams and mine matches the second one, my book only had the top one maybe ill find something new.<br /><br />but here is a good one:<br />the diamgam shows the switch box<br />on the left side there are 5 terminals<br />the top terminal is connected to the red stator wire<br /><br />BUT<br /><br />on mine, i cant find the red stator wire and that terminal isnt a terminal at all but rather a thumbscrew.<br /><br />i dont get it, it did run this way before maybe someone knows the deal with that

Do you have a red stator/ and or upgrade? If so, only the blue wire is hooked to the switchbox. Reason being the high speed winding switchbox connection is no longer used with a red stator.<br /><br />Jerry

thanks jerry. YES it does have a red stator opposed to a black one. i knew there had to ba a reason. <br /><br />awsome one question answered. bring more fellas im goimng to slit my wrists soon
