Merc 115 Lower Unit Swap

I have a 2007 mercury 115 lower unit that took a crap. Will a 2001 mercury 115 fit it?

In 2007 all the 115s appeared to have a 2.07:1 gear ratio, in 2001 I could only veryify some(2stroke carbed) having the same ratio.. I couldn't read the 4 stroke EFI, but it too might be 2.07:1
The cases should fit, but I don;t know if the crankshaft splines are the same.
