Merc 125, Bouncing?

I have a Saltwater 125 with about 8 hrs on it now. At just below 1K rpms, in gear the entire motor would 'bounce' for lack of a better term. As soon as I was above or below that rpm, it would go away. Sometimes it didn't happen at all in the same rpm range. No dings on the prop. Any ideas???

I would say that you have a miss. Is it still under warranty? At 8 hours. I would thing so. I know it is a hassle, but you don't want to do something and have the dealer tell you that you have voided the warrantee.

I had a similar problem with my 2000 125 (freshwater) when I got it. I had to adjust the idle speed and the idle screws on the top two carbs (the only two with idle screws), and after a few minutes I was able to get it running perfect. It’s not hard to do, but I wouldn’t mess around with it if it’s under warranty. If you do decide to make adjustments, make sure you do it on the water, not using the muffs. You’ll never get it right, if you don’t.

A miss seems likely, it just wasn't running smooth. I adjusted the single idle screw the last time it was out so it wouldn't stall at idle anymore. It was running well at low rpm's since. I think I'll put a couple more hours on it, take it in for the 10hr service before hitting the Bay in a few weeks.
