So I am new and this is completely foreign to me. The boat's control box is a single lever that you "pull out" to throttle in neutral and pop back in to go forward or reverse.. i can throttle fine and the engine sounds real good, but when i try to go forward it kills.

I took it out for a madien( to me ) voyage and it went fine then started killing, but throttling and reving sounds fine... not sure what to do...

Help

there is a switch that makes the engine studder when you put gear selector in foward or reverse so gears can engage. It sounds like the switch is going bad.

Nope,... Not really...
The switch is Supposed to only skip the motor comin' Out of gear,...
It's workin' Just Fine...
The lower Shift Cable is worn out causing the switch to engage...

Change the lower shift cable....
