How hard was the reed replacement?? Don't know if I need it, just curious, I'm sure I'll be doing it at some point in time.

Well, concidering that you have to take the whole front of the engine apart, might as well rebuild the carbs and fuel pump while you are there, disconnect a bunch of wireing, Remove about 60 screws that hold the reeds, lap the reedcages so they are flat again before you put the new reeds back on and then put it all back together making sure that you put all the hoses back on right, I would say, every bit of a full weekend.

If you are not a pretty good mechanic, I would leave it to the pros. Not real hard, but not as easy as changing spark plugs either.

try this the Idle air bypass holes at the bottom of the carborator three microscopic holes under the throttle plate flap. push a very thin peice of tag wire in those holes and clean them out .
they were clogged on two of my carbs .You will know when you push the thin wire through how clogged they are. blow some compressed air threw them too./ worth a try .They usally clogg right after a fresh rebuild too when you loosen dirt in the carbs when cleaning them.i believe the holes terminate where the welch plug is .
