Merc 18xd controls... swap to 25xd???

I have a Mercury 25xd tiller steer, pull start motor. It runs great. I found an 18 xd, electric start, with steering linkage, and throttle controls. Can I convert my 25xd to electric start, connect the steering, and throttle controls using the parts off of the 18xd???

Any tips, hints, information will be greatly appreciated!

If you go to crowleymarine.com, and go to parts catalog, you can type in the serial numbers of those two motors and compare the part numbers in the online parts diagrams. If they're the same, then they will interchange. Even if they're not the same, they might interchange. I suspect they would. However, I'd look them up first. I'd also consider posting your question in the mercury forum if you haven't already. Those mercury guys can always tell you the right answer.

I think you will find the model # to be helpful, but you can use the serial number to find the parts too.

I posted this thread in the Mercury/Mariner section to begin with. No replies. Then a moderator implied, since it wasn't a "repair" question, the guys might have been ignoring it.
