My '75 merc 20 hp stopped pumping water last weekend while bow fishing. (long drift back to the ramp) I tore it apart and the water pump is perfect, (less than a month old) I ran water up the water tube and it flowed freely. I reassembled the motor and tried it, its pumping great. Only thing is, the water from the indicator is a little hotter than ever before. At full throttle I can only hold my hand in it for a couple of seconds. Before I could keep my hand in the coolant stream all day. Also, I seem to have more pressure from the indicator than before. Does this motor have a thermostat? Ive looked it over and I dont think it does.

Thanks for any help,
Shawn
