I have a 2000 mercury 25 hp 2 STROKE WITH bad powerhead. I have a good powerhead from a 1982 MERCURY 25. Are they interchangeable? The 1982 powerhead looks slightly different on the front cover (maybe bolt holes for LINKAGES in different locations worse comes to worse I may need to swap the front cover from the 2000 to the 1982. Anybody have input into this?

Also have access to a 1994 25 HP powerhead but I already own the 1982 powerhead. If I need to swap front covers what is used for the seal between front cover and cylinder block?

It will fit with some mods due to cowling redesign...The 82 is a chrome bore model so inspect cylinders good as they scuff

Lower COWLING or upper? Can you expand on what mods are needed? I think the front covers are different. If I have to swap the front covers what SEALS the cover to the cylinder block? By cover I mean the front section of the powerhead.

Are you getting the ignition with the 82 block? Are you getting the carb linkages with it? Those are different between those blocks. I would find another mercosil block like yours.

Anyone know if a 1994 mercosil powerhead is interchangeable with my 2000 merc 25?
