What would cause a loud whine in the rear of my boat while in neutral? I just installed a new complete upper and lower SEI drive with a new gimbal bearing. The whines seems to stop when I shift into gear.<br />Thanks,<br />Nick
Pull the drive and run the engine. No whine, then it's either the drive or the gimbal bearing.<br />Is the gimbal bearing smooth? ANY roughness could cause the whine. Putting the drive in gear loads the bearings and could stop the whine.
