Just got my Merc 3.0l up and running but not until after some issues, i received the boat in pieces so had to just figure stuff out as i rebuilt it, i came to start the rebuilt engine, and it would run but only while the starter was being engaged, when i let off the key to run position it would die, i checked my coil hot wire and with the ignition on it was dead, but while cranking would be hot. I traced this back down to being connected to a terminal on the starter solenoid, once i clipped it to the positive on the starter and cranked it the engine runs great. The wire in question is a purple with yellow tracer, the schematics i looked at tells me to connect it to the starter R terminal, this wire has to be connected to a switched power somewhere, but where??? Help!!!
