This may be a dumb question but here it goes anyway.
Can some one explain to me how/where the raw cooling water and exhaust mix in the exhaust manifold.

I'm preparing to winterize for the first time and I;m worried that filling the engine with antifreeze could result in antifreeze feeding back into cylinder through the exhaust valve.

This can't be true since many people fill their engines. I just don't know why.

Thanks in advance.

This manifold and riser are from a V-8 but its the same concept. The water exits back before the exhaust. It would be pretty hard to fill up your cylinders if you are just pouring AF in through your thermostat housing...

I've filled min up for years with no problems...the AF will run out the exhaust onto the ground when it's full, which is why you need to use the no tox stuff...the only way that AF will get into the cylinders is if you have a rotted out manifold or failed riser gasket in the first place...
