Re: Merc 4.3 Info and more

I was thinking vortec heads also,, but it all costs. The money tree is getting a pretty good pruning already. LOL
The motor I found was a perfect match for my old one, all casting number were the same, I know everything will bolt up.

......., are the head bolts TTY?? ...Bob

The 4.3L head bolts were not TTY until 1996 , BUT..
I have rebuilt two 4.3's (a 1994 & a 1995), and I bought new headbolts and used torque + angle specs for 1996 & newer 4.3's because I understand it to be more accurate.
Just tell the parts store you need head-bolt set for a 1996 chevy S10 Blazer with a 4.3 Liter engine. Use the torque specs from 1996 or newer vortec engine. A set of head bolts is $10 per head, not much compared to your total bill.

An update, had the boat in the water and all is well, runs like a top no adjustments, no surpizes, put 1.5hrs on it. There is some water (two liters)in the bilge, have to find that yet. Ice was off the lake a week ago!!!
Thanks EVERYONE!!!:D:D:D

Glad to hear it runs well.
