Merc 40 ELPTO Charging

Our new Merc 40 elpto took a wave over the stern flooding the battery.After changing the battery it no longer charges.Any ideas would be appreciated as we are in rural Panama without a service manual.Thanks and Merry Christmas, Saylpal.

I'm betting on a blown regulator/rectifier. They'll do that if the battery connections are loose, corroded, or crossed.

Unplug the 2 yellow wires from the regulator and test with a OHM meter they should test about .75 ohm or more and neither yellow wire should show any reading to ground, if it passes this test it is, the regulator that is bad
