When you pull the engine out, pay close attention to the rear mounts and the hardware on them. Make sure it's all there and in the right place.

You can also easily make one if you know someone with a medium sized lathe or a local machine shop.

Using a 1 3/8" piece of steel rod, you just machine the surfaces to match the store bought one.

I made my one using the neighbors lathe in about 45 min. The dimensions are here someplace (Don has it at his "fingertips" if you cannot find it.)

Way too many numbers. Should be in a format like this
First number 0, then a Letter, then 6 numbers. example 0M123456

Look on the block just above the starter next to the flywheel cover. Should be a brass tag riveted to the block.

Does your boat have a year? Look for serial numbers on the flame arrestor cover, maybe even a drive serial number might help.

Re: Merc 5.7, Bravo 3 Service Time

Well after donno how long I took the boat out this weekend, I had clean the buttom last sunday for testing and use this weekend & I have to say the only coupler that was damaged or broken is the tool behind the steering wheel. For the 1st time in a Year i trimmed out the boat and it worked awsome. Holeshot is a cow, but once trim and on plane even with the bad seas we had this weekend it worked great.

Just wanted to update and accept my newbie dumbness!

Bring your transom SN to a dealer, they should be able to extract the leg and engine serial numbers provided that they are original equipment.
