Merc 60HP Intermittent weird problem

I have a 2002 Merc 60/40 Jet. It has an intermittent power problem - runs 30mph and bogs down to 12mph. Dealer replaced plugs, stator, cdms, & power pack and set timing and problem still exists. Have found that when I lift & shake motor it will correct problem for some time ( sometimes a mile or so , sometimes 10 miles). Yesterday I was running with the cover & air cleaner off and when it bogged down I shot some Merc power tune in the bottom carb and it took off - did this several times in bottom carb ( top two carbs had no eeffect)with same results.

Sounds like you need a carb cleaning.

As andy said sounds like the carbs are gumed up or floats/an needles not working or clogged.<br />key was when you tilted the motor and shook it<br /><br />Make sure your fuel tank vent lines are free.<br />Long shot might be fuel pump<br /><br /><br />Rich

Thanks Guys. Fuel lines have been checked and I'm pretty sure this problem is only in the bottom carb. DO not have time before Tournament Saturday to take it apart so I will try 1 more time to use carb cleaner and sea foam. I did read that there is an idle jet and a high end jet - it seems to idle OK so I'm wondering if the problem is in the one jet ???? Appreciate any ideas for a quick / temp fix short of taking the carb off and cleaning which I will do after Saturday.

Probobly not a quick fix other than a carb cleaning,if a fuel system cleaner doesn't work.<br />Good Luck with your Tournament, Tim
