Merc 650 fuel leaks

Ok after bringing my 1973 Mercury 650 back from the dead I seem to have several fuel leaks. I got the motor running but only buy spraying fuel into the carbs so I'm sure I'll need to pull the carbs and clean them if not rebuild them. The leaks I'm getting appear when I use the primer bulb and all seem to be after the fuel pump. I'm leaking from both ends the 2" fuel line from the pump to the filter and from the lines going to each carb after the filter. Are there O-rings on the ends of the fuel lines that need replacing? The motor wasn't really running long enough for me to tell if there were leaks when running or not but it leaks like crazy when I squeeze the primer bulb.

You will hve to replace the hoses that are leaking they are NLA, so the best thing is to either take them off and go to a auto parts store buy hose in bulk and the ends from stock most ends are 1/8th pipe by the hose dia, then install the ends and hose with clamps or wire ties.

Actually I think the hoses are still available but it's $19 for the 2" line and $38-$40 each for the 2 going to the carbs so I may go the route of making my own.

So do I just need to install barb fittings on all the parts where the new fuel lines will connect?

One last question, do I put anything on the threads of the barb fittings? I can't imagine teflon tape being a good mix w/ gas.

There is a gasoline-resistant form of teflon tape. It is sold in auto parts stores and comes in a yellow package (rather than blue one which is used for potable water piping). I've used it before on my fittings with good success.

Great, thanks!
