Merc 650 motor timing

A friend gave me a 1960's Mercury 650 4cyl. motor.The timing belt was broken,so Ipicked up a new belt.The timing strip on the flywheel is gone,no marks on the teeth of flywheel.Very faint TDC on top of flywheel.Where do I start the timing procedure?

Remove plate on top of distributor / magneto find an arrow I think.------Likely best to remove bottom of magneto to clean and set the breaker points.
