I'm looking at a 68 Mercury 650 o/b, no power trim. Was power trim available as an option at the time? Can i retrofit tnt fairly easily? Is it just a matter of obtaining the parts and bolting them up?

Yes and no:

NO, Power T/T was not available when your engine was made.

YES, the first generation system is a bolt on for your engine. It has the pump mounted inside your boat and the hoses are routed through the splashwell to hyfrolic rams bolted to the transom and the engine's mounting bracket. They can be found on E-Bay and sometimes on Craig's List. If you happen to have a boat wrecking yard in your area, I would also check there.

Hope this helps and here is a picture or 2 of what it looks like.

Re: Merc 650 TNT

Yes, I have done some searching on this board and found additional info. Would you know what models have the same hardware?and up till what year? When looking online it would be best if i knew which models are identical, instead of narrowing my field by just looking at 650's. It looks pretty straightforward.
I have a mercury TNT inboard style pump/reservoir sitting in my garage from the 80's, just wondering if that would work also?
Thanks, time to go shopping.
