Going back together after changing seals and inspection. All the gears and bearings looked good. All the seals have been replaced and I was cleaning up the shift shaft tube and noticed a hole in it.
It doesn’t look like it’s supposed to have a hole there, and it looks kind of jagged on the edges like it may have gotten some freeze damage. The hole is in the tube next to drive shaft tube. It doesn’t appear to be open to anywhere water could get in or oil escape, but I don’t know that.
I’m gonna pressure test it once assembled, but if that hole needs to be patched I’ll do that first.
So so is that hole supposed to be there?
TIA
