Merc Alarm After Disconnecting Sensor

So in order to check the accuracy of my single wire temp gauge/sensor I also disconnected the 2 wire "Digital Coolant" sensor next to it, so I'd have more wire. Now when I turn the key on instead of a short alarm I get a long one and while leaving the key on I also get one beep...Will this clear on it's own after running or is it a dealer thing that has to be cleared with Merc scanner...

why cant you put everything back the way it was to see if it clears? What does having more wire have to do with the temp reading?

Sorry, I needed longer length of wire from the harness so the sensor could reach into a bowl, so i also disconnected the 2 wire sensor which gave me extra i needed... running it here can be a PIA, I have to use my pond water, my well would go dry.. but I'll have to do it and see..

It sounds like you did not get the sensor wire back on correctly. Try Again!

When the fault clears, the alarm will clear, no time delay. There is nothing to clear with a scanner.

I'll reinstall plug for sensors and run it this weekend and hope the alarm stays quiet..Also the key was in the on position for a while so that may trigger it also..?? Thanks

Re: Merc Alarm After Disconnecting Sensor

It's been running in yard for 15min and the alarm goes off once every minute so I think something needs to be cleared & temp is running normal so I created this mess .. crap... just in:: OK just talked to Merc dealer and it's "key cycles" meaning stop and restart so that I'll try...Update that did it.. Short alarm with key on and no alarms while running....
