Hi All, would love to know your thoughts on this post. So I'm a newbie and have had my "new to me" boat in the water now for almost a month. Have had power issues since day one, but wasn't sure if it was me or boat. It's the boat. Here's the list of intermittent power-related issues happening:

1) Motor stalls when accelerated from idle or trolling speeds.
2) During higher speed running, engine sometimes shuts off.
3) RPMs hesitate go up and down during low/mid speed.
4) At start-up, engine sometimes stalls in idle.
5) Engine runs for few seconds after turning off ignition.
6) Can't get engine to rev much past 3,000rpm or 20mph.
7) Sometimes when acceleration is attempted from trolling, engine revs, but but doesn't accelerate - as if prop isn't "catching", or engine is running in neutral.

New long-block was installed in 2014 by previous owner. Boat is a 2000 Crownline 180BR and I'm nearing the end of my warranty period - any thoughts?? Love to hear!! Cheers!

I would say most of your issues is from the carb, and sounds like its flooding. Pull a few plugs and I would think they would be black. Need to check timing to ensure its set correctly.

Shutting off under high speed runs would have me check the fuel pressure (4-7 psi)

If engine speeds up and boat doesn't speed up, check prop hub, engine coupler and if something is on the prop

Thanks AllDodge, fuel/carb seems consistent with what I've heard so far - and about the prop, I did throw it in reverse and then forward again in case weeds were wrapped around the prop. Think that worked but can't remember...was flustered.

Could this also prevent the boat from being able get past 3,000RPM? It's limit is 4,800RPM?

The carb can keep the boat from producing power but so can a lot of other things. If your over propped it will act like a slug
