For some reason I can't separate my 1987 Merc Alpha One Gen I upper and lower outdrive.

The front nut, underside nuts, and trim tab bolts have been removed. The side nuts have been loosened as far as they will go.

I followed Wayne Coll's instruction video.

Did I forget something?

How much pressure can I safely use to pry to two appart?

If it has been on there for awhile you may have corrosion around the bolts. A little tap and prying may be in order.
Use the nuts you cant get off to add a little pressure to the front of the case and then a screw driver to pry it open from front to rear once you get a split in the seam. It sould come right off then.

As long as its mostly even pressure you can use a fair bit. There is only one spot where the o ring is that you cant scratch.

1 YOU DO NOT PRY ANYWHERE
2 you remove the trim tab to remove the bolt UNDER IT
3 If it still wont come apart, snug the side nut down and insert a 3/8 ths or 7/16ths open end wrench on top of the nuts, loosening the nut will force the unit apart enough to use other tools.

Worked like champ! I used the side nuts to push against the upper and split the upper and lower enough to get a screw driver in.

Thanks for all the help!!
