Merc alpha one gen 2 can this be welded ?

So my boat unfortunately washed up on some rocks and this is part of the result to my sternndrive.

Can this be fixed by my local welder without melting or destroying inner parts?

Just the cavitation plate is damaged? And yes, it can be welded...but make sure your welder is competent and understands cast aluminum welding.
