I am doing the impeller on my merc 4.3, alpha 1 (2004) for the first time, at 100 hours.

Do you all always pressure check your outdrive after wards?

Absolutely. The only other way of knowing is something didn't work (or you forgot to install the quad ring) is when the drive fails.

Your Choice.

Before refilling it with lube, you pressurize the system with air and see if it holds. If you do a search you can see where someone had details on how to make a home made gauge set up - or you can buy one specially for the job.

I found a pressure tester on ebay for $37 bucks with shipping. On my alpha I gen II it looks like you basically thread it in where the vent screw goes and pressurize it with air, while the outdrive is removed from the boat (since I have the gear lube reservoir).
